On Memorial Day a bunch of us got together to kayak about 13 miles down the Red River. The cool part was we went through one of the many locks that are on this river. It was really interesting to see how these things worked. We entered one end, they shut the giant gates, and the water level dropped about 30 feet in 10 minutes or so. Then the gates at the other end opened and we were on our way. The gates reminded me of the Black Gate to the entrance of Mordor in the Lord of the Rings movies. We were all very tired and sore afterwards, but we had a great time. The kayak I'm in was one our bishop made. In the group shot the two wooden kayaks are his, along with two canoes that are not in the picture. He also made the red one, which is a collapsable kayak. Talented guy. He's the guy to the left of the girl (his daughter).

Are there alligators in there?
I'm sure there are. But they are nocturnal and very, very shy.
